Eyelid Lift
Are you looking to improve your appearance and gain a more wide-eyed look? Do your eyelids droop down, interfering with your line of sight? An eyelid lift, sometimes called blepharoplasty or an eyelid tuck, can instantly improve these conditions and the overall appearance of your eyes. If eyelids sag, are puffy, or droop over the eyes, an eyelid lift can help by removing extra skin, fat, and muscle from the eyelids.
What Can Eyelid Surgery Do For Me?
Drooping eyelids or puffy bags beneath the eyes visually age you. You look tired, drawn, and older than your age. If your eyelids droop over your eyes, they can also even interfere with your vision. An eyelid lift can correct these problems, giving you a more youthful, alert appearance. While this is a cosmetic procedure for many patients, your insurance may pay for it if your drooping eyelids interfere with your sight.
Blepharoplasty can correct or improve the appearance of the eyes in several ways:
- Raise drooping eyelids
- Improve the crease above the eyes
- Reduce puffiness above or below the eyes
- Minimize bags under the eyes
- Remove excess skin on the lower eyelids

Who is a Good Candidate for Blepharoplasty?
Individuals in good health with no vision problems are ideal candidates for blepharoplasty if they have realistic expectations and understand what can be achieved. Sagging skin, drooping eyelids, and bags can be corrected with an eyelid lift.
Those with bleeding disorders, dry eyes, or visual problems may not be good candidates for eyelid lifts. A blepharoplasty is not the solution if you are concerned about laugh lines, frown lines, or uneven eyebrows. We recommend other options that will provide better results for these concerns.
Eyelid Lift Recovery
The skin and muscles around the eyes are delicate. Bruising and swelling are normal following an eyelid lift. The area may also feel tight and sore for up to two weeks. Patients can typically resume activities within 3-5 days and return to work within a week. Patience is crucial during the first few weeks after surgery, as swelling and bruising may mask the true results of your eyelid lift. By the second month following surgery, your eyes will be approaching their final appearance. Your eyes will appear wider and brighter.
If you should experience pain or discomfort that is not controlled by over-the-counter medications, our surgeons may prescribe soothing eye drops or recommend cool compresses for comfort. It is advised not to wear contacts for the first two weeks, and avoid bright light and wind that can irritate the affected area.
