Brow Lift

Do you want a more youthful and rested appearance on your eyes and face? Over time, your eyebrows can begin to sag or drop lower over your eyes, often contributing to a prematurely aged appearance. A brow lift can be the perfect solution to restoring your youthful appearance and making you feel and look your best.

A brow lift, sometimes called an eyebrow lift or forehead lift raises the brows and improves the look of the forehead by gently lifting a portion of the skin and soft tissues on the forehead toward the hairline.

What Problems Does a Brow Lift Address?

A forehead lift can alleviate several issues that affect your appearance, including:

  • Frown lines on the forehead and around the eyes
  • Restores the natural arch in the brows
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Drooping eyelids
  • Sagging eyebrows
  • Furrows between the eyes
  • Fatty deposits above the brows
  • Drooping forehead muscles

Brow Lift Procedures

Brow lift surgery is performed in one of our surgical suites, typically under local or general anesthesia. The type of anesthesia is determined by the complexity of the procedure and your preference. Your surgeon will thoroughly review all options with you before surgery. The procedure usually takes one to two hours. Following surgery, you wear supportive bandages for several days to ensure optimal comfort and post-operative care.

Coronal Brow Lift

A coronal lift is the most traditional form of forehead lifts. Incisions behind the ears and above the hairline are made, then the skin of the forehead and brows is pulled back. A coronal brow lift can target more than one area of the face and is the most comprehensive form of a brow lift.

Temporal Brow Lift

Sometimes called a lateral brow lift, this procedure focuses on smoothing crow’s feet and puffiness in the lower eyelids. It is less extensive and recommended for patients in the earliest stages of aging.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

The surgeons at Riverside Oral Surgery may recommend an endoscopic brow lift to patients who desire a less invasive forehead lift. Tiny incisions above the hairline allow access to the skin and tissues of the brow for maximum correction with minimal healing time.

Benefits of a Brow Lift

Tightening the tissue and skin on the forehead softens wrinkles and lifts up the brows. The treatment can offer life-changing results for those seeking a more youthful look, including the following benefits:

  • Restoring the eyebrows’ natural arch
  • Eliminating sagging in the upper eyelids
  • Reducing crow’s feet
  • Smoothing wrinkles
  • Diminishes forehead lines
  • It opens up the eye area for a lighter, brighter look
  • Reduces a tired appearance
  • Corrects hooded eyes

Stop looking further for your oral surgery needs, Dr. Auerbach is all you need to know. A few minutes into my consultation visit and I already knew I was in great hands. He was very professional, great on answering all questions I had, and gave me as much time as I needed without making me feel rushed. There's a reason the NJ Devils trust Riverside. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed in just under an hour. Thankfully, he did a great job on that as well as preparing me for what the recovery process would entail. He personally followed up with me the next day to check in on me and see if I was having any complications....which I wasn't, cause he's just that good.

Who is a Candidate for a Brow Lift?

Anyone in good health who suffers from drooping brows or sagging skin in the eyebrow area can benefit from a brow lift. In particular, eyebrow lifts are often performed when a patient is in their forties or fifties. This is the age when facial muscles start to sag, prematurely aging the face. If your upper eyelids sag to the extent they interfere with your vision, a brow lift can also be an excellent solution for this condition.

Having good physical health and realistic expectations for any cosmetic surgery is essential. The best way to determine if a brow lift is right for you is to schedule a consultation with one of our surgeons to discuss your aesthetic goals.

Recovering from a Brow Lift

Mild to moderate swelling, bruising, and pain is expected in the first few days following surgery. Most patients can control discomfort with over-the-counter pain relievers and ice packs; however, our surgeons may prescribe medication if needed. After a brow lift, patients must be accompanied home by a loved one or friend.

Most patients take 10-14 days off work following a brow lift. During this time, strenuous activities and exercise should be avoided. Within two weeks, the incisions are healed, but swelling and scarring will continue to fade over several weeks. Our surgeons provide detailed at-home instructions following this procedure.
