A full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a practice focus and personal experience with disorders of the TMJ.

Dr. Adam T. Hershkin is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who provides the full range of oral and maxillofacial surgery services in addition to maintaining a practice emphasis on disorders of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Dr. Hershkin’s extensive training and experience in managing TMJ issues is augmented by his experience as a patient who has dealt with TMJ problems himself for more than 20 years. “That experience has given me a unique perspective not only on the pain and quality-of-life issues involved, but also on the importance of having confidence that your doctor is truly listening to you and working in partnership with you to protect and improve your health,” says Dr. Hershkin.

Born in New York City and raised in the metropolitan area, Dr. Hershkin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and then entered Temple University’s School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree in 2001. After an Internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond, VA, Dr. Hershkin completed a Residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital in New York, where he served as Chief Resident. A dedicated educator, he continues to teach residents and has published several case reports in peer-reviewed journals. He also is the co-author of a chapter on oral and maxillofacial regional anesthesia in a dental textbook, and is certified in the administration of general anesthesia.
